Liberal Democrat Headteacher Survey

Dear Headteacher

We are facing unprecedented cuts to schools across England, caused by the lack of funding from central government. £2.2 billion has been slashed from per-pupil school budgets in real-terms since 2015, something that should shame any government.

The Chancellor has disgracefully ducked the difficult issue of long-term school funding, meaning schools will have to continue to cut staff, axe extra-curricular activities and struggle to afford essentials like books and pens.

I want to hear from you.

How is this affecting your school? Are you having to close the doors early and ask parents to pay for essential items? Please take just 5 minutes to fill in the enclosed survey, so I can get a better picture from around the county of how this is affecting you.

The Liberal Democrats are committed to an emergency £2.2 billion cash injection into our schools, providing the support teachers need to do their jobs.

To fail to act is to leave both teachers and children in the midst of what is clearly a crisis.

Yours,

County Councillor Ed Maxfield

Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group on Norfolk County Council
